An easy tip for world building is to make locations be varied from one another but cohesive when a character is inside them. This task can be made difficult in the webcomic world due to the standardization of using 3D assets for the backgrounds. Focus characters can't blend in, but unless its established that they don't belong in that location, like a time traveler, they should feel cohesive too.
