Sometimes they simply don't understand. Partway through the page, I decided to try a new hair technique, adding more lineart so that it stands out more even in black and white. I'll spare the details here, but some mangaka will often draw all of the hair clumps (not necessarily every single strand) for extra detail. I also want to play with screentones for a black-and-white format at some point!
