Yelena Nova is a young woman living in the greatest city on earth: Moscow. Every morning she wakes up early and buys a pastry, and every night she drinks a cup of hot tea and looks out of her apartment window. What happens in between is just work, and everyone has a job to do. But one winter, Yelena suddenly becomes important at her job. As Yelena climbs higher and higher through the spiderweb of Moscow high society, she finds that her fair city is rotten to the core.
