In a steppe scarred by endless smoke and ruin, the disgraced warrior Braxx stumbles home - broken and forsaken. Along the road, he crosses paths with a feral, starving boy - one who would kill the first traveler he sees just to survive another day. But when monsters that devour entire villages emerge from the shadows, two outcasts realize the only way to stay alive is to stick together.
