Those markings on the cheek, by the way.... those are birth-marks that are common in babies born talented in magic. The symbols themselves have no inherent meaning, outside of the myths and meanings that different cultures attribute to them. I uhh failed to find a sooth way to shoehorn that into the story, lol.
