The story follows a vampire named Odisse, who is blood-cursed and must find a pureblood in order to heal. He arrives in the village of April in search of one. To locate the pureblood, he casts a blood rain that makes everyone sick-except the purebloods. He kidnaps four people and takes their blood. April gathers her courage and goes to the manor to find the missing villagers. But Odisse catches her. April offers him a deal: that he takes her instead of the others and spare her village.
