My Mom used to work with a woman named "Todd." Apparently, her dad really wanted boys and had the name picked out... when the child was a girl, he decided to give her the traditionally "used for a boy's" name anyway. This character is not that person (she was white, this character is black), but I thought it'd be interesting to give one of the girls said name for the strip.
