Ri and Gon contrast each other. Ri denies the future by dwelling on the past. She believes she cannot change and remains useless. Gon believes in the future and a meaning, and thinks he will be better. But ironically, Ri is able to adapt to Fo's way of thinking, while Gon remains a judgmental and harsh person, despite his efforts to change.
