The problems with all things being equal is that it's often goes against what people actually look for, or how the world actually works. At some point someone is going to demand for more outstanding traits, more value adds, more traits to differentiate the 0.1 percent from the 1 percent. Which means feeding into an endless educational arms race, and people wondering if it's worth it in the end.
