"Humans are afraid of what they don't understand." Rei only wanted freedom and acceptance from other people but because of his power he has been avoided. His power is so powerful that he has a hard time controlling it but he manage to hide it. After accidentally killing his mother he was left alone. Later found people who are the same as him. So they all worked together to become heroes so that they shall be embraced with humanity's acceptance.
