In 1980s Japan, a major Oyabun is assassinated, making his wife the first female defacto boss of her family. However, she gets pressured by her male peers to replace a male successor to take her place. By doing so, Momoko chooses between her two sons to replace her as a worthy successor, Hiro and Moe, who have drastically different visions of how they want to lead their family business. However, the outcome of her final decision causes a jealousy-fueled schism within the family.
