Huey Barker is new to this town and school, but he is shy and awkward and has no idea how to make any friends. It doesn't help that none of his classmates want to be his friend in the first place. However, a choice encounter with the meanest, toughest girl in school, Mary Wells, sets everything in motion. Perhaps his new school life will be more exciting than he ever hoped to imagine.
