This doesn't really come up in the main story, but I'd imagine that in a society where all marriages are arranged but you can be matched with any gender, people would probably not be given room to develop an understanding of their own sexuality, since it would open avenues to criticizing the government's decision-making (which needs to appear perfect). It's bi or die here, at least publicly lol
