If I became a barbie, what color would my skin be? As a young Chinese American girl and barbie collector in the early 2000s era of nearly-all-white barbies, my sister was flustered with this question after waking up from a dream. But it feels as though she had never woken up, like we all are inside her living nightmare. We watch as our ethnic communities become whitewashed with barbie mansions and diluted versions of our culture(s).
