Jack is an alcoholic and is recovering from the loss of his daughter by killing cannibals who live in the city of chaos, landlocked by the sea, on an isolated island. During a daily raid he meets Maddie, a child who does not eat human meat and wears a hood to hide the patches that cover her face because of her diet. Together they try to understand the origin of such chaos.
