Hayashi Hideko, 17 years old, lives in Japan. The city, Osaka, is invaded by the Kappas, mythical creatures that are dangerous for the population. They eat human’s flesh to become stronger, but need water to survive. Hideko is still going to school and has a crush on Ota Kitaro, a young and popular guy at her school, but Yoshida Ezume, an annoying and lonely guy from her class, keeps getting in the way. That young man is also a Kappa and Hideko is the only one to know this secret.
