A nonbinary teen from a corrupted and no longer free America, named Kate, discovers they have magic powers, specifically lightning, after saving an alien from being taken to Area 51. The alien says she is from another universe called the Magica Universe. Kate decides to go with the alien to Magica Academy to learn how to control their powers, while learning more about themselves, and the slow corruption of Magica Universe by the Heavenly Kingdom in the process.
