In the story you follow the main character McSprite and his co-worker McLate, he's found himself in this loop of sadness and blandness. There's nothing wrong going on the surface level, his family is great, he hasn't lost anyone in his family, so why does he feel this way? He has no excuse to feel so empty and lost, right?... He's not sure.
