A disastrous fire leads a young man, Marcus Sterling, down a rabbit hole to find his foster parents' killer. Convinced his suspect is a 'Musouka', deceitful and vial creatures with godlike powers that can shapeshift to blend in with mankind, Marcus must make allies, outsmart enemies and try his best to survive as he unravels the mysteries of his world and the people within it.
