The opening scene of Ottoway Vol 2, is a flashback sequence focusing on Edwin and Vincent's shared past. At 15, Edwin lost his father. His mother, a Scotswoman, was too poor to take care of two sons. Edwin was sent to live with his middle-class German uncle, who then sent him to live with relatives in Sweden. Edwin returned to the UK after finishing university in Sweden.
