The story takes place on an alternate Earth, split up into 5 different continents, all the way back in the 1970's. Len is an exceptionally optimistic teenager with a horiffic past of family abuse, and he's just moved to the hilariously remote island of Lockwood, off the rocky coast of the first continent, that only has a population of roughly 100 people.
