In the lawless Heart of the Damned station, infamous mercenary pilot Robert Ravenstone accepts a dangerous mission from the terrified alien researcher Sho’rtyl-Vaahn Khezzir-Oolun. Their destination is the Black Spiral, one of the deadliest and least explored regions in the galaxy. Along the way, eccentric and highly skilled companions will join their crew in a chaotic journey filled with action, danger, mystery, and dark humor.
