Twelve-year-old Kai Lin is nobody's prodigy. He washes dishes in his parents' restaurant and practices the same kung-fu move five hundred times, and still gets it wrong. But Kai fails differently. In a future where firefighters bend water with qi and the greatest martial academy on Earth hides among the redwoods, failing differently might be the rarest talent of all. Adapted from the novel REDWOOD GATE: The Unrecognized Path. Art: AI-generated, reviewed by the author.
