The story follows Violet Mauve, a serpentine female painter, and her art model, Moure Turquoise, a male prostitute and a mousefolk. Set in the year 1874 in America, the tale traces their journey together. Their relationship would start off as nothing more than that of an employer and a model, but over time, it would grow gradually—gently, and warmly."
