After Ruth is betrayed by her lover, she is found by an old couple in a lake, suffering from a head injury. Ruth, with unusual gold eyes and raven hair, is heard of by the king of the kingdom she was swept into. King Seth of Velkaris, who seems very moody and mysterious welcomes Ruth into his kingdom. Ruth and the king keep coming into contact and maybe become a little closer. As Ruth battles her trauma and foes who want her for a price, she finds friends and maybe even new love along the way.
