Thirty years from now, Cleo Griffin is living in the city of Chicago during the time of the mysterious "Chicago Red Eye" pandemic, that appeared in his very home city and spread like a wild fire. There's something very disturbing about this disease that doesn't make sense—its symptoms. When Cleo finds himself to have contracted it, he begins to realize it's more than just a virus, and needs to build an immunity. The world is falling as it spreads and he is the only human close to finding a cure.
