Two dystopian colonies on a ruined Earth deprived of water and natural wildlife fight over a small planet with possible signs of water-there's only room for one part of the city. One district will get a taste of water for the first time in 4,000 years, while the other has to stay behind. Jump back and forth between Red-042-600-07's present as an officer of a battalion and her childhood as she grows up an outcast in a lower class district.
