Silk & Soil Silk and soil follows the story of Madeline Elleis, an upper class woman who falls in love with a female gardener working at her family’s estate. In order for the two of them to be together (due to it being 1825), they hatch a plan to disguise Theodora as an upper class man, using outfits borrowed from Madeline’s two brothers.
