A prisoner and a guard are unlikely conversation partners, but the unlikely humanism of her prisoner leads Dorothy to wonder. Were the lab rats she was ordered to shepherd human after all, despite the inhuman power they seemed to wield? (Prequel to Spitfyre, an eventual comic that will be written and illustrated by me.)
