Kat Roniek and Iji Martell are prisoners in Lorde's Penitentiary, a high tech detention center in a technologically advanced world where law enforcement punishes criminal activity in an extreme manner. 256 of the criminals, Kat and Iji included, are selected to play a "game," where one inmate has the opportunity to escape by killing the other selected prisoners and finally the warden using special weapons being developed called Tek.
