The story takes place six years after the events of the manga, after the defeat of Vaati and Ganon, and also after Link placed the sword on the altar and returned to the Kingdom with Zelda. In these six years, Link began to hear the voices of the four Links, and even his eyes changed color to theirs: blue and purple on the right, and green and red on the left. Six years later, Link is summoned by the princess for a mission that would put the fate of the kingdom in danger.
