Saruman was sent with the Blue Wizards to go East into Rhûn to see what they could find out about the influence of Sauron there. Saruman spent a LOT of time in the East before heading back to Gondor and later taking up residence in Orthanc. But that's not for a thousand years or so from this point, so I'm sure he'll check in on Mori and Róm in the meantime!
