A girl called Malissa lives a normal life with her mother and father, going to middle school and getting decent grades. But she lacks the mystery and excitement she sees in all the detective films she watches. after her father is laid off and starts a new job he begins bringing home less money and her mother is forced into work. Her father's suspicious new job piqued her interest. In the process of investigating she meets an unlikely new friend and discovers a dark secret about her father.
