John is the average loner, gamer (and closeted gay) teen, who out of nowhere gets asked out by one of the most popular girls in school, Ruby, Assuming it’s a prank and uninterested in girls, he brushes her off. Ruby persists, revealing she needs a boyfriend to fend off a persistent admirer and prove a point to her friends. After striking a deal, they start fake dating, throwing John into the spotlight—and into conflict with the very boy Ruby was avoiding.
