Yosaphine has just moved to an entirely new area without memories of her past self tied to every corner. There she continues her apprenticeship as a surgeon. The people at her new apartment complex are mostly friendly and welcome her with open hands, especially Zeph. He lives right below her in apartment 23. “What's he doing at the cemetery?” Yosaphine wonders. Yosaphine also finds herself mortified questioning if Zeph is actually a murderer.
