Arcadia is beautiful and peaceful. It's not that Adiaphe wants that to change, it's just that she can't ignore said change the way everyone else is. Even Pan, the benevolent and mischievous caretaker of the land, is acting odd, and it's beginning to make her worry. She's only a nymph, but that's never kept her from sticking her nose in places she shouldn't before.
