Kazuko Watanabe is a young girl in dystopian Shōwa era Japan. Her father, a doctor, becomes a small town hero as his first project is greenlit by the government. Trucks and soldiers plow through the streets as Kazuko watches from her window, imagination running wild as she studies inside her second-story window.
