On the eve of their 17th birthday, every teen in Crestwood receives a magical 'talent' from the Great Wizard Ismond. To prove themselves worthy of keeping their gifts each must perform 15 good deeds in 200 days. When Deborah Marten gets her powers, things become even more complicated when strange things begin to unravel in the small town. The more Deb uncovers her gift, the more she questions: Is the Wizard the benevolent figure everyone believes, or is something far more dangerous at play?
