In the mid-19th century, a young man named David Smith is pulled into a mysterious magic portal that appears in a corner of the library where he works, and he finds himself in Joseon (old-time Korea). There, he meets the wizard Mr. Kim, and until the portal can be reopened, Smith agrees to work as his assistant to track down illegal wizards in town.
