Rodrik, the son of the commander of the Dark Crusade, has fought on the battlefield since childhood, raised to inherit his father’s title. After one battle, he discovers Lisa, an elven girl who has been living in hiding. Rodrik shelters her from the Dark Crusade, and the two form an unlikely friendship. But he cannot keep her hidden forever. Worn down by endless war and mental exhaustion, Rodrik ultimately decides to plan an escape—together with Lisa.
