The year is 2052. It's been 32 years since COVID-19 struck the earth and stripped it of its people, its economy and its peace. 13-year old Marlowe knows how to stay in line. Study hard to be intelligent. Be intelligent to survive. After all, knowledge is power. But when she is given the opportunity to join the 'paper people' (a rebellious group who plan to overthrow the government) she realises how little she knows, and how powerless she is, despite her academic success.
