The Russian invasion of Ukraine is going on for two years now, and their shared history is important for understanding Russia's imperialistic attitude towards Ukraine. And their history started here, with the Kiev Rus'. I chose to use the modern Ukrainian name for the city of Kyiv, but general discord still uses Kievan Rus' for the medieval state, so apologies for the inconsistencies.
