Often, I get asked to fight for change by others trying to discourage my cynicism. The problem is, such cynicism is rooted in the organisational instinct of self-preservation through bureaucracy and the chain of command. After all, all leadership needs to do is promise the possibility of change - it doesn't have to actually happen, or be actually possible.
