The problem with being a cynic is that nobody likes you - negative beliefs are usually frowned upon, but even when you're proven right, you can't really gloat about it either. (You can try, but expect even more backlash from everyone accusing you of being a self-fulfilling prophecy.) That said, I do wish printers and translators came with an "office politics" setting.
