Disagreements over ownership, portrayed in animated fiction for kids, rarely ever end well for the protagonist. Sometimes it works out when the main character is annoying as piss (e.g. Ben 10 redux). Other examples such as "Arthur's Big Hit" are far more sympathetic, but the results hardly vary. Someone has to be punished, even if it's for the crime of personal ownership.
