Despite the state of Ecco's ashy and unused voice box, he tries his best to convince Kevin to keep his book hidden, but the wishful Kevin proves to be a bit stubborn, forcing the lightningcolt to coerce the boy into fulfilling his demand instead. Just to make sure Kevin doesn't go back on the promise though, Ecco then makes another request, one that is surely impossible to fulfill.
