Many of the monsters come from manifestations of intense emotion, and whenever there's a wraith it's never exactly the entirety of a person. In the Dark World, if there's a Wraith of someone that wraith is only a fracture of the person that lives on as a sort of echo creating a creature of its own, there's no reasoning with it, its a volatile beast acting on its own instincts.
