So much of art, especially comic art, is just about expressing the feel of something, not the thing itself. It’s the summary of how light plays on the leaves of a tree. The pattern of rain when it darkens the earth. The essence of a smile. Sometimes I feel like I’m right on the cusp of capturing something beautiful. But by the time the piece is finished, I’ve lost it again.
