70% of the world has been encased in a shell of rock and darkness, and humanity has been cursed with the features of animals. Youni is a simple sea urchin living a simple life on the edge of the light, where invertebrates like her aren't permitted. Yet when she tries to bring home a small, glowing stone for her neighbor, the consequences send her spiraling down a path to uncovering the terrible truth about the world she inhabits.
