Fun fact: itβs true that rats can sometimes have over 1,000 offspring in their lifetime! (Not all at once though, that would be terrifying) Mother rats can have anywhere from 5 to 20 pups in a single litter, but they can have multiple litters like this throughout their lifespan- which is very impressive, given the fact that the average lifespan of a rat is around 2 years!
This efficient method of multiplication is why rats have become so successful in spreading themselves around the world! (If you are afraid of rats, I apologize for this information.)
